The Fuller Golf Tournament
The Fuller Golf Tournament will take place on September 12 -13, 2009 in Palm Springs. The golf course it will be held on will be the Indian Wells Golf Resort and the Hotel accomodations will be at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa. About the Golf Tournament
"Many of you didn't have the pleasure of knowing Larry Fuller, so we would like to take a moment to tell you a little about him and how this golf tournament started. Larry started with the Torrance Police Department on October 22, 1969. He worked a variety of assignments where he was always known for his wonderful demeanor and personality. Larry was the first Torrance Police Officer to teach in the schools. He showed his love for kids early in his career while assigned to the Juvenile Division. Larry went on to become our Range Master, turning the range not only into a place to train, but also a place to gather. He was a person who cared about the officers and this always showed when you spoke to him.
Since Larry's passing on May 18, 1992. the Torrance Police Department, in honor of Larry, named the range the Larry Fuller Memorial Range. Larry's efforts to support kids are continued through events such as this golf tournament.
Through our sponsors support and involvement with this golf tournament, TPOA has been able to offer students from the five Torrance high Schools scholarships for college. Members from TPOA sit on oral boards for the students seeking a college scholarships. During this interview students detail their dreams of wanting to attend college as well as their future goals."
