Welcome from the President
On behalf of the Torrance Police Officers’ Association, I’d like to welcome you to the official web site for the Torrance Police Officers’ Association. The Board of Directors voted unanimously to create this Web site because it will help us achieve many goals. We’ve always needed a way to increase our communication between the TPOA Board of Directors and the membership; both sworn and retired, and now we can also let the members of the general public know what is happening within the police department and information about our Association.
Our Association supports many charitable organizations as well as department related activities that our members are involved in. Our contributions have included Little League, Boys and Girls clubs, High School Sports Clubs, Torrance Education Foundation, YMCA, Civic Youth Programs, Senior Citizens Groups and our Torrance Teens and Police and Partners in Policing programs put on by the Torrance Police Department. These are just a few of the charitable organizations we enjoy helping throughout the years. We also award five $1,500.00 scholarships to our area high schools which is funded 100% from our proceeds at our annual Larry Fuller Memorial Golf Tournament. (Details on our website).
Our Association is also very involved with politics as it relates directly to our members and their best interests and, most especially, the publics. We go to Sacramento regularly to support any legislation that makes it easier, safer or better for law enforcement personnel to do their jobs and to keep the public as safe as possible. We also oppose legislation that may have a negative impact on law enforcement.
We want our City, its business community and neighbors to thrive and grow. We realize that the only way to achieve this is by having the most highly motivated, well trained and properly staffed police department to watch over our wonderful city.
Our Santa Float is one of our most beloved events for our members. We begin the Saturday after Thanksgiving and our float tours the entire city of Torrance for 1 month, every night. We will be posting our locations here in our website with maps so that you may now know exactly when Santa will be in your area.
I sincerely hope that you will find the information provided within this web site informative and useful. If there is anything we can do to make this web site better and easier to navigate, please feel free to contact us so that we can improve it.
Sincerely,
Thomas Winchester
President
Torrance Police Officers’ Association (TPOA)
